In order to maintain the high level of service to their customers, they needed to modernize their database systems. The new solution would not only need to be an upgrade from the dated systems, but would also need to take advantage of new technology features and enhancements, increase security, and reduce costs by consolidating technology. The primary objective of the database modernization was to migrate all databases from older Solaris, Exadata Cloud at Customer, and Exadata X5 platforms onto new Oracle Exadata X8 Engineered Systems.

As the city began its journey to becoming an internet provider, Fort Collins Utilities realized its existing customer information system (CIS) couldn’t support a broadband service or the necessary integrations. Additionally, Fort Collins Utilities wanted a CIS that could integrate billing for all utility services. The city’s IT team considered a move to cloud to consolidate server infrastructure for reduced costs, dynamic scalability and simpler management. The best solution would be Hybrid Cloud.
Like many educational institutions, the University of Colorado at Denver (CU Denver) needed to modernize its IT infrastructure. But a wholesale migration to cloud wasn’t an option for the large public research university, which includes two campuses—one in downtown Denver and the other at the Anschutz Medical Campus in neighboring Aurora.
